ARRIVE GUWAHATI & DRIVE TO CHEERAPUNJEE

On arrival at Gawahati airport/railway station drive to Cherrapunji in Meghalaya is one of the wettest places on the planet and the only place in India to receive rain throughout the year. The town is also known as ‘The land of oranges. Enroute stop for lunch, long day to reach Cheerapunjee. Dinner /Overnight at hotel.

CHEERAPUNJEE

This morning after breakfast we visit to ARWAH CAVE: is most famous caves for its fossils which you can observe in the lit-up interiors, especially towards the end of the cave. You will find crustacean shells and fish bones fossilized in the limestone walls of the cave. Visit tallest waterfall about 340 M height NAHKHALIKAI FALLS: about 5 km away from Cheerapunjee. It is a single drop waterfall from the mountain covered with green vegetation. The place is very beautiful, in monsoon. Later enjoy MWASMAI CAVE: a short distance also famous for its fossils. Visit RKM MUSEUM: It gives a good idea about the tribal lifestyle and culture of North-East India. Seven Sisters Fall: Seven Sisters Waterfalls has seven different waterfalls that are strategically arranged side by side on a high, rugged cliff, and looks very significant. It is interesting as this waterfall plunges down in seven stages; it derived its name from this fact. . Later return to hotel. Dinner / Overnight stay at hotel.

DRIVE CHEERAPUNJEE – SHILLONG

Morning after Breakfast we will drive to Shillong- the first capital of the State of Meghalaya. Located in undulating pine covered hills home to several waterfalls, it is also known as the Scotland of the East. The British legacy is still visible in the architecture and food habits of the population. On arrival check in to hotel. Visit Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures is seven stories and three-in-one Institution combining a museum with research and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India -a unique fusion of all the sister states under one roof. Later enjoy Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese-style landscaped park endowed with stretches of roses & exquisite flowers. The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya.

DRIVE SHILLONG – GUWAHATI

Early morning for Sunrise visit UMIUM LAKE: Umiam Lake, a mesmerizing man-made reservoir sunrise at the lake is a treat to watch and shouldn't be missed, The Lake was formed after a dam was constructed to generate hydroelectric power. The scenic Umiam Lake is encircled by lush green East Khasi hills that form one of the best panoramic sights for nature-lovers in the country. After back to hotel for breakfast then drive to Guwahati, on arrival check in to hotel. Evening free at leisure or local exploration. Dinner / Overnight stay at hotel.

GUWAHATI -KAMAKHYA TEMPLE - KAZIRANGA

Morning after breakfast we drive to KAMAKHYA TEMPLE: The temple is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya an incarnation of Sati. According to Shiva Purana to save the world from the Shiva’s Tandava Nrittya (Dance of Destruction), cut Sati’s dead body into 51 pieces with his Chakra. After visiting temple we drive few km away to Kaziranga National Park, the home of the "One Horned Rhinoceros" It is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses. World heritage site is the oldest park in Assam & is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River- a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. On arrival check in to hotel. KAZIRANGA National Park

Early morning explores Kaziranga National Park by elephant safari. Noon we visit by Jeep Safari. Overnight stay at hotel. Dinner / Overnight stay at hotel.

DRIVE + BOAT KAZIRANGA – MAJULI

Morning after breakfast we drive to Nimati ghat to catch ferry to the Majuli. It’s a wonderful 1.5 hour’s ferry drive to the mighty Brahmaputra. We can smell the fresh air of the river. On arrival at Majuli islands, check in to Guest House. Afternoon free for Local exploration. Dinner / Overnight stay hotel.

MAJULI ISLAND

Morning after breakfast we visit the Satras, the birthplace of Vaishnavite culture in Assam. We explore the unique mask making art of Majuli by experiencing it firsthand. Also we Interaction with the artists to learn how these unique masks take shape, from bamboo structures. Dinner / Overnight stay hotel.

MAJULI – JORHAT

Morning after breakfast, walking tour, to interact with the local people to know about their life and culture, return hotel & transfer to Kamalabari Ghat to take ferry towards Neemati Ghat, 108 kms 2.5 hrs. On Arrival at Neemati Ghat transfer to hotel. After lunch visit Sibsagar - Ranghar, (Amphitheatre), Talatal Ghar (Palace of the King), and Shiva Doul, (The tallest Shiva temple in the entire northeast) - The first flight on north-eastern soil was landed in Jorhat in 1928. Jorhat has the oldest golf course in Asia and third oldest in the world. Dinner / Overnight stay at Jorhat.
