Kunzum Overland – Lahaul Spiti Tour Package Itinerary : – Delhi – Chandigarh – Shimla – Kalpa – Tabo – Kaza – Keylong – Manali – Chandigarh – Delhi
Kunzum Pass is a high mountain pass in Kunzum Range of the Himalayas. Kunzum connects Spiti Valley with Lahaul Valley in eastern side, where as Parang la connects the Spiti Valley to parts of Ladakh. Visit the places that are heart and soul of Spiti – Kinnaur Valley.Step back in time as you wonder the area known for wood carvings – KALPA offers a beautiful view of Kinner Kailash mountain range, where as TABO Monastery is know as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”. It has magnificent paintings and murals, dating back to1000 AD onwards which were created under the supervision of the great Tibetan Tanslator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo. At last not the least visiting Dhankhar Gompa and Dhankhar Fort, located on a cliff Dhankhar was a strategic point during the early days. Gaze down a magnificent view of SPITI Valley and PIN Valley from Dhankhar Fort. Feel the fast pace of modern Chandigarh and summer capital of British Raj – Shimla.
We will arrive in Delhi. Meet on arrival at Delhi international airport and transfer to a hotel for overnight stay.
Early morning transfer to railway station to board Shatabdi Exp. to Chandigarh. Met on arrival at Chandigarh and we will drive to Shimla (2205 M) by covering approx. 90 kms in 3 hrs. Arrive and check-into the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Shimla. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Morning start safari to reach Kalpa (2759 m) via Rekon Pio (2758 M) by covering approx. 95 kms in about 5-6 hrs. Kalpa lies in the rain shadow region close to the Tibetan border at the confluence of Spiti and Sutlej rivers. This area is known for wood carvings and grapes. Kalpa offers a very good view of Kinner Kailash mountain range & mount Raldang. Overnight stay in a hotel.
In the morning start safari to reach Tabo via Nako. A short drive after Kalpa 50-60 km we visit village Puh overlooking the valley. Walk along Mani walls to visit the New Monastery and the old Gompa. Afterwards drive back and stop for Lunch. On reaching Nako village which is a beautiful village situated at a height of 3662 Mtr, we take a short walk and visit the cluster of Old Monastery complex, later photo stop at Nako Lake. By evening arrive at Tabo and check-in at Guest House / hotel for overnight stay.
Visit TABO CHOSKOR, a compound of around 9 small and large halls with magnificent paintings and murals. Dating back to 1000 AD onwards, these were created under the supervision of the great Tibetan Translator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo. Tabo, that time became an important centre of learning. Tabo Monastery is more known as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”. In the afternoon, proceed for a lovely village walk to see some of the cave shrines which were used by monks who came for learning. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Drive to Lallung Monastery, a small tiny village 20 km off the main road, visit the Old Gompa which is still intact in its old charm. After visiting Lallung, drive to Dhankhar. Visit Dhankhar Gompa and Dhankhar Fort. Located on a cliff, Dhankhar was a strategic point during the early days as it offers a magnificent view of Pin valley and Spiti valley. After visiting Dhankhar, drive to Kaza and check-in to a hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Pin Valley. Visit Kungri Monastery and villages. In the afternoon visit Ki Monastery (4116 M) and later drive to Kibber village (4400 M) which is among the highest permanently inhabited villages in the world. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Drive (210 km) to Keylong via Kunzum Pass (4551 mt) and Koksar. Enroute stop to take photographs of Bara Shingri glacier (3657 mt). Arrive Keylong (3550 mt) by late evening and check-in to the hotel for overnight stay.
Morning start return safari to reach Manali (2050 M) by covering approx. 122 KMs in 7 hrs via Rohtang Pass (3980 M). On arrival check into the hotel. Afternoon proceed for sightseeing in Manali. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Morning after breakfast drive (310 km) to Chandigarh which takes about 09-10 hrs. On arrival check-in to the hotel. Overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Chandigarh. It is one of the best planned cities of India and famous for its Rock Garden, Lake club and many Govt. buildings. In the evening transfer to railway station to board Shatabdi Exp. to Delhi. Met on arrival at Delhi railway station and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day at leisure. Check-out from the hotel at noon. Later departure transfer to international airport to board flight to onward destination.
